What we stand for

As Greens, we stand for a fairer, greener future, built on principles of social justice, environmental sustainability, and grassroots democracy. Nationally, we advocate for urgent action on climate change, investment in public services, and a shift towards a well-being economy that prioritises people and planet over short-term profit. Locally, these principles translate into a strong commitment to protecting green spaces, supporting community-led initiatives, and ensuring that decision-making is truly democratic and inclusive.

These principles are particularly relevant for Buckinghamshire, where both rural and urban communities face distinct challenges. We proudly defend our beautiful countryside.

We staunchly advocate for sustainable development that respects the local character rather than allowing unchecked expansion that threatens biodiversity and strains infrastructure.

In villages like Haddenham and Stone, this means opposing inappropriate large-scale developments while ensuring that genuinely affordable housing is available for local people.

It also means investing in public transport and active travel options so that residents are not forced to rely on cars due to poor connectivity.

Public services in Buckinghamshire, from schools to social care, are under increased pressure. We believe in a properly funded local government that puts the needs of residents first, rather than outsourcing essential services to private providers that prioritise cost-cutting over quality.

We want to strengthen our education, healthcare, and youth services so that they provide long-term benefits to our communities. Local schools should be better resourced to support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and social care must be reformed to ensure dignity and independence for older and vulnerable residents.

Democracy is at the heart of our vision for Buckinghamshire. We passionately believe in devolving power to communities, making sure that local people have a real say in the decisions that affect their daily lives.

For this reason, we campaign for greater transparency in council decision-making, for more support for town and parish councils, and for policies that are not only evidence-based but shaped through meaningful public engagement.

We are the Party of the community.

We believe that only our Green approach ensures that Buckinghamshire remains a thriving, sustainable, and fair place to live for generations to come.
