Mid Buckinghamshire Constituency prospective candidate

Greg Smith

Greg Smith

I have lived in this constituency for the last 25 years. I have worked as a manager for HM Prisons and probation Service and then a restorative Justice Service. I currently manage a project for a National Charity working in the Violence against Women and Girls sector. I am actively engaged in a range of community initiatives, am a member of the Parish Council and an elected Councillor for Buckinghamshire Unitary Authority.

I have been involved in a range of community projects:

  • School Governor
  • Helped set up a children’s competitive swimming club
  • Founder member of a local environmental group
  • Helped set up a community orchard
  • Helped organise a community Arts festival
  • Initiated a community buy out of the Greengrocer when it was due to close
  • Helped set up a wide range of community events

I will work closely with my branch and support our local campaign. This will mean radio and TV interviews, delivering leaflets, participating in hustings and other community meetings, door knocking and engaging with people at their home or at meetings and events.

I have a track record in setting up and running community projects.

  • I worked as a manager in the Probation Service for many years
  • I have worked in Criminal Justice Charities including Restorative Justice and the VAWG sector
  • I worked at a strategic level within the Ministry of Justice

I am committed to the community engagement and community empowerment policies of the Green Party. To this end I have been involved in a wide range of community activities and events. This has earned me a high profile in this community. My standing within this community contributed to gaining a considerable electoral majority at the County level election in 2020. As an elected member my profile has broadened. I sit on a number of committees and have always sought to make my presence felt. As a consequence I am invited to a range of events that have broader county coverage. This includes, for example, attending the County wide advice service annual event, Kashmir National Day, a monitoring group for Thames water, Food Bank and various senior’s groups.

My position as a County Councillor and a high profile within this community means that I am guaranteed a certain proportion of the vote. With work and a strong campaign strategy we could increase this by a significant margin.
