Contrary to what Transport for Buckinghamshire has often said, the Thames Valley Chief Constable has now confirmed that it is up to local councils to set the speed limit and for the police to enforce it.
He clarified this after a question from Councillor David Lyons at a recent Council meeting. This means that villages, like Cuddington, wanting a 20 mph speed limit can now campaign confidently, knowing that they cannot be fobbed off by Transport for Buckinghamshire saying that the police will not enforce 20 mph limits.
