The council falls short on plans for electric vehicle charging

7 July 2021

In a recent council meeting, Bucks council unveiled its plans to double the number of electric vehicle charging points to 80.  “Council leaders clearly don’t understand the size of the challenge we face.” says Green Party Councillor Gregory Smith.

This highlights once again an issue raised by The Bucks Herald in February of this year.

As the car industry plans to shift from petrol and diesel to electric vehicles from 2030, they estimate that we will need to increase the number of charging points across the country to 2.3 million by 2030.  We currently have just over 1% of the number which will be needed.

Gregory Smith commented:  “This is how Bucks council works, moving in the right direction but at a pace which is so much slower than what is needed and way behind what many other councils around the country are already achieving”
